Exuberant and gracious owner-executive chef A. Jay Shaffer greets guests with as much gusto as he prepares his food. Sip top-flight wines while enjoying Atlantic- and Pacific-coast oysters and grilled fish in this appealing Flatiron spot. Besides oysters---raw or fried---for starters try the shrimp dumplings in Thai curry sauce or the crab cakes served with black bean salsa with spicy chipotle coulis. For an entrée, sample Shaffer's signatures of skate en papillote with ratatouille and couscous or the pan-seared yellowfin tuna with wasabi mashed potatoes. For dessert, choices include chocolate molten cake and a bourbon-pecan tart.
