THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Shanty Grille Restaurant Review:
For those seeking a more upscale atmosphere in which to enjoy a giant pile of steamed hard-shell crabs, The Crab Shanty had been the restaurant to go to for decades. But you’d hardly recognize the old place these days. The vintage memorabilia-stuffed dining rooms have given way to a more youthful look, with exposed brick, a fireplace, and an expanded pub with high-tech TVs. The menu is more contemporary and international (Buffalo shrimp nachos, for instance, and Moroccan steak salad) and quite a bit less expensive, and there are many dishes now billed as low in fat and gluten-free. There’s even a new name: Shanty Grille. But this Shanty incarnation has not neglected its famous crabs, which are still heavy and well spiced.
