THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED SLeeK Restaurant Review:
The upscale SleeK along the St. Louis riverfront offers terrific steaks, no question. But to focus only on the steaks would mean overlooking some other impressive dishes from chef Hubert Keller and company. Start with something raw like the steak tartare or oysters with a Champagne mignonette. Then consider one of the meat selections either grilled, pan-seared, slow-simmered, as charcuterie or encased in ravioli. Side dishes include eight variations of potatoes. Round off the evening with one of Keller's reinvented classics: a float with root beer granité, vanilla bean ice cream and brown sugar, or go for the vanilla bean cheesecake with a hazelnut crust, blueberry and mint sorbet and chocolate sauce---you won't be sorry. The selection of ports and Cognacs, too, fulfills expectations. SLeeK’s trendy lounge serves nicely mixed martinis to happy-go-lucky gamblers and the occasional pro athlete or actor staying at the nearby luxury hotels.
