THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Soleil Bistro & Wine Bar Restaurant Review:
Tucked into the corner of a small strip center in a space that's seen many restaurants come and go, Soleil seems more comfortable in its skin than most of its predecessors. Try the lemon grass-infused carrot soup; the beet salad with Humboldt Fog goat cheese is a perennial favorite. We recommend using caution when approaching the scallops in a saffron-vanilla sauce, however---a little vanilla goes a long, long way. Duck confit on white beans suggests a more rustic cuisine, yet the lunchtime croque madame, served open-face with a fried egg on top and a thin film of basil pesto bolstering the ham, Gruyère and tomato, evokes Paris with Proustian clarity. The modest but imaginative wine list can be especially exploited on Tuesdays when all wines over $30 are 50 percent off, and on Thursdays when the same is true of sparkling wines.
