THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Splash Restaurant & Bar Restaurant Review:
Overlooking the Long Island Sound, Splash Restaurant & Bar offers an Asian-inspired, predominantly seafood and fish menu. On steamy summer evenings, diners vie for tables on the outdoor deck and patio. On the flipside, indoors, a glowing fireplace and sunset views of the water make the place equally attractive in winter. Appetizers, like most of the menu, consist of inventive twists on traditional fare, like wood-roasted local oysters with garlic, white wine, chives and lemon and fried rice balls stuffed with ground Wagyu beef, aged provolone and tomato sauce. The raw bar presents another tempting way to start your meal, with chilled Maine lobster, "peel and eat" Gulf shrimp and other seafood favorites. Entrées are generous, and textures, colors and tastes are creatively intermingled on each plate. A standout is the Chilean sea bass, baked in a banana leaf, Southeast Asian-style, with a coconut rice cake and glazed carrots. It's delicate, light and well-flavored, as is the lemon and herb-crusted ahi steak served with spicy wasabi potato spring rolls and a tart citrus salsa. Dessert selections have included a chocolate lava cake with fresh berries and caramel ice cream. Several wines by the glass on the well-curated list allow for easy pairings.
