THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Sunnyside Cafe Restaurant Review:
Imagine a huge plate of eggs, grits, and a big slab of country ham produced from Carroll County humanely raised pigs, with a fine pair of biscuits alongside. That's breakfast at Sunnyside Cafe, founded by musician Gary Duke. The menu's meat-and-two, to be topped off with a slice of homemade coconut cream pie, comes in portions large enough to take half home for another repast. Sunnyside's hand-pattied burger is from local grass-fed beef. The fried catfish is fresh and crisp, and the vegetables are true to Southern style. Plan dinner then stay for music (bluegrass, CW and blues-based rock in general) anywhere from Thursday to Saturday (no cover Thursday) in the attached Moonshadow Music Hall. On Sunday, enjoy the buffet at lunch (called "dinner" around here). Beer and wine --- the list is modest --- are the proffered quaffs other than quite good iced tea and soft drinks.
