Sushi Yasaka Restaurant Review:
Sushi Yasaka sits unassumingly in a pocket of the Upper West Side with a sushi bar manned by four chefs who take preparation seriously with precision and care. Regulars pack the place for its $24 mini-omakase of sushi and a roll, or its $26 Miyabi dinner that adds sashimi. Sushi Yasaka’s offerings are extensive and affordable and include dishes not always found on ordinary Japanese menus. Try the ankimo, a silky portion of steamed monkfish liver with yuzu, for example. The restaurant’s signature fried oyster roll is delicious and adds a warm touch to the selection of otherwise cold sushi and sashimi. A varied saké collection includes several unfiltered versions.
