THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED SushiSamba Rio Restaurant Review:
SushiSamba is a see-and-be-seen fusion spot with a nice rooftop patio. Here we have an alliance (unholy at times) between Japanese (sushi) and South American (samba). Nonetheless, the 12,000-square-foot eatery quickly gained --- and has since maintained --- a scenester following. We like the creative rolls --- try the seared Kobe beef, avocado and red onion with chimichurri ponzu. Other dishes we have enjoyed include sea bass skewers with starchy Peruvian corn. Not to be missed is the brunch, which features feijoada, a stew of black beans, shredded pork, seared beef and carne seca with white rice, collard greens, farofa and orange slices. For dessert, indulge guilt-free in the delicate, refreshing fruit tiraditos, paper-thin slices of fruit with flavored “pearls”; we especially like the mango with mint and pineapple with coffee. Or, get the Samba Split with bananas, dulce de leche ice cream and caramel corn.
