Symposium Greek Restaurant Restaurant Review:
This Greek garden---with its relaxing vibe and culinary treats---will make you forget you’re on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Managed by Columbia University's culinary staff, the eatery has been around since 1969 and continues to impress. Three full-grown trees shoot through the roof of Symposium and live plants and flowers fill the restaurant and patio. Can't decide what Greek specialty to order? Begin with a sampling of good Greek appetizers---eggplant dip, caviar spread, mashed garlic potatoes, yogurt and cucumber dip, stuffed grape leaves, feta cheese, tomatoes and cucumbers and pita bread. Ready for more? Try the signature entrées, which include moussaka, lamb shanks or shish kebabs prepared with either lamb, chicken or vegetables, all served with sautéed vegetables and rice. Cure your after-dinner sweet craving with a square of homemade baklava or if you can't consume another bite, take it to-go.
