Tavern N Town Restaurant Review:
What began as a modern steakhouse with a hotel guest-friendly menu has adapted to the range of clientele the restaurant has drawn. Situated on the edge of “New Town” and other residential parts of Key West, Tavern N Town has turned into a meeting place for locals, who congregate around the bar for wood-fired pizzas, small plates like ropa vieja empanadas or conch salad, and the expert martinis. The expansive main dining room leaves ample space for large parties, visitors and “power dinners” between movers and shakers who favor hearty dishes like slow-roasted prime rib au jus, coriander-seared tuna in red pepper miso broth, or the surf ‘n’ turf of pan-roasted Florida lobster tail and slow-braised oxtail risotto. Though the resort is on the water, the restaurant itself has neither a view nor an outdoor dining area, which only reinforces the fact that repeat customers come to see and be seen, and to dine well.
