A different twist on tapas awaits aficionados, hidden away just off Times Square. Tintol presents the bite-size morsels with a Portuguese flavor. Try the grilled octopus---it has the consistency of sea scallops with a delicate flavor all its own. Continuing with the seafood theme, look for the mussels Euskadi, finished with chorizo and peppers. For the meat lover, beef tenderloin with bone marrow and a lamb loin with cumin should satisfy the savory craving. A range of specialty drinks includes a Madeira favorite called Poncha, sugarcane brandy flavored with lemon and honey. Owner Jose Meirelles presents a selection of Portuguese and Spanish wines by the glass, plus sherry, Madeira and Port.
