THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Trastevere Ristorante Restaurant Review:
Named after the region west of Romes Tiber River, this charming, family-run eatery offers the authentic, bold flavors of Central Italy. The location is in a nondescript strip shopping center, but inside youll find three intimate dining rooms and a brick-paved courtyard out back for dining under the stars. Start with the insalata caprese, fresh mozzarella and tomatoes with a splash of balsamic vinegar, capers and basil, or the calamari fra diavolo. Youll always find at least eight pastas on the menu, from a simple angel hair with olive oil and garlic to the rich penne Gorgonzola. For entrées, we recommend either the pollo Trastevere, chicken with eggplant and mozzarella cheeses or the veal scaloppini rolled and stuffed with asparagus, prosciutto and mozzarella in a lemony white wine sauce. Save a little room for the tiramisu or the chocolate layer cake. The wine list is small but elegant, with about 35 wines, nine by the glass.
