Trummer's on Main Restaurant Review:
In what may be one of the area’s largest and possibly most expensive restaurant overhauls in history, the owners of Trummer’s on Main managed to gut and remake the landmark Hermitage Inn and transform it into a sleek and modernized venue for pricey meals and pricier events. The result? A multi-storied building with numerous dining areas and nooks and a plush lounge-bar area that host eager guests. Brunch is a favorite time to meet and greet, and seating in the enlarged and enclosed terrace provides good views and plenty of light to shine on what’s on the walls (paintings) and menu. A pre-set, three-course meal, brunch starts with a basket of muffins accompanied by ramekins of spreads, including butter and a fruit preserve. Entrées include a poached egg with a crab “cube” and an unusual fried chicken offering of a boneless drumstick wrapped in its own skin and fried. Other mealtimes offer creative takes on American classics, such as grilled flounder, roasted Maine scallops, and a butter-roasted chicken. The chef offers a diverting bar menu that keeps pace with the house’s signature cocktails, and the extensive wine selections merit a special wine-tasting room.
