Tulipano Restaurant Review:
This family-operated mini-mall eatery is decked out in dated aqua and mauve, with linen-clad tables and murals depicting Venetian canals. The food is equally predictable, with dishes like calamari fritti, beef carpaccio, and a caprese salad offered as starters. Pastas, cioppino and traditional veal and chicken dishes are available as entrées, and the kitchen happily accommodates special requests. Risotto can be custom-prepared nightly, but our mushroom risotto was a disappointment. Equally disappointing was the house-made tiramisu. The central San Gabriel Valley is no longer the distant hinterlands, and we have come to expect a more refined execution of Northern Italian specialties. In fairness, the regulars are provided friendly service and a comforting familiarity.
