THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Typhoon! Restaurant Review:
Owners Bo and Stephen Kline bring authentic Thai cuisine to Redmond. The only Washington location of this small Portland-based chain, Typhoon! is tucked into a small shopping mall near Microsoft. Its Drunken Noodles compete in a spicy rivalry with the ever-popular pad thai. For hands-on eating, try the miang kum---make-it-yourself rolls of toasted coconut, shallot, ginger, lime, peanut, dried shrimp, chilies and a fruity house sauce, wrapped in spinach leaves. If you're looking for a warm bowl of comfort, try the tom yum goong---hot-and-sour lemon grass soup with shrimp. For more exotic tastes, choose duck curry studded with pineapple and grapes, or white prawn and scallop dumplings bathed in a green curry sauce. An extensive tea list features more than 150 black, green, and rare white teas. Desserts include mango and sticky rice, as well as our favorite, house-made coconut ice cream melting into a hot pear cobbler.
