THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Uncle Bill's Pancake & Dinner House Restaurant Review:
St. Louis' best-known breakfast house, Uncle Bill's expanded a few years ago to suburban locations, though we're sure they don't get the same spectrum of humanity as the original site. While there are other meals available, the 24-hour breakfast service is the raison d'être. The coffee urns are generally well scrubbed, a pleasant surprise anywhere, and while the orange juice is nothing special, but pancakes are tender and huge, sprawling over the sides of a plate. Unless you're a lumberjack heading out to work, order a short stack. Bacon is thick-cut and surprisingly lean; eggs are respectfully treated unless you order soft-scrambled, a fruitless gesture in any such place as this.
