Buried away on the basement floor of an old building that was once a creamery and now houses a popular comedy club, Underground is a hidden treasure serving some of the best contemporary tapas around in a sultry, urban-chic setting. The menu evolves daily but it's hard to go wrong with saffron risotto cakes stuffed with fresh mozzarella, crispy duck breast with sour cherries, seared rare hanger steak with mustard cream and horseradish, and a positively ethereal spinach and Gorgonzola frittata. Owner-chef Daniel Taylor is a wizard with fresh seafood, as he demonstrates with dishes ranging from melt-in-your-mouth wild striped bass to a deconstructed chowder starring grilled scallops.
