THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Vama Restaurant Review:
Deep ochre-coloured walls, a stone floor that looks Provençal, plenty of potted plants and a small patio make a welcoming décor to this well-established Indian restaurant in Chelsea. As little has changed in that regard, so has little changed in the kitchen. Dishes are still unusually well-prepared and a good range of Indian cooking styles is showcased. The meat dishes from the northwest of the sub-continent are particularly fine: try lamb cooked with spinach and nutmeg and garlic; or grilled sea bass marinated in lemon, chilli oil and coriander, perhaps with one of the breads like roomali cooked with roasted cumin. Vegetarians needn't feel left out, as vegetarian dishes are given equal prominence, and are refreshingly interesting. Service is attentive and knowledgeable. Set Sunday buffet lunch £14.99.
