If you crave a little nightlife with your ceviche, Vandam is for you. The dining room, with leather-studded chairs and rough wood tables, not to mention a lively lounge area, is hip enough to satisfy scenesters, but the mohair banquettes are elegant enough for a fine-dining crowd. Choose from a selection of tapas such as succulent marinated white anchovies; Chilean mussels in a sweet coconut broth; sole tartare; and Peruvian shrimp ceviche. Main courses run the gamut from Argentine rib-eye with chimichurri sauce and blue corn-dusted salmon with potatoes and leeks to risotto with wild mushrooms and truffle oil and a grilled vegetable brochette served with rice.
