THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Vegetable Garden Restaurant Review:
For many years, The Vegetable Garden has drawn locals with its all-vegetable, Buddhist-style Chinese food. The lengthy menu, which includes several macrobiotic and Japanese-inspired dishes, spans the breadth of Chinese cooking techniques: stir-fried, deep-fried, baked, steamed and hot pot dishes. To stave off patron curiosity, the menu contains several color photos of some of the more exotic fare. Meals begin with a gratis wedge of Chinese-style carrot bread, a teaser for such upcoming items as the spring rolls or dumpling appetizers and General Tsao's 'chicken,' or the rich, flavorful eggplant hot pot. Desserts include several Western treats such as Key lime pie. Fresh-squeezed juices, some organic, and assorted teas, beers and wines complement meals.
