THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED At Vermilion Restaurant Review:
Offering a blend of Latin and Indian cuisines, this Eastside restaurant is a cavernous, steel-imbued space (barring one bold red-leather wall behind the downstairs bar). A giant mesh chandelier and two-story chain waterfall add to the modern, industrial ambience. As for the fusion cooking, much like the décor, the fare feels a bit lacking and muddled. Fried artichoke pakoras arrived with a bland eggplant chili coconut sauce. By contrast, the duck vindaloo arepa with pomegranate molasses and curry leaf mango nicely combines sweet and savory. Similarly, the tender chili-glazed blackened tamarind ribs have the right combination of heat and spice---unlike the ordinary butternut squash soup. You’ll find a plethora of after-work Midtowners perusing the vast cocktail and dinner menus.
