THIS RESTAURANT IS NOW A PRIVATE EVENT SPACE Veronique Restaurant Review:
A tweaking in the kitchen has brought this venerable dining room into the new century. Amidst the carved oak paneling and nightly harp music, you can now find solid Continental-American fare like rock shrimp and corn bisque, lamb shanks with lentils and olives and a seared ribeye drizzled with a Zinfandel demiglace. The English Tudor building dates to the Twenties and the adjacent parking is a bargain. The wine list has been shed of many of its trophy Bordeaux and Burgundy selections; but before you fret, the list is still quite good and the prices have been dropped so that every bottle is marked up a mere $10 over the wholesale price. Theres a quiet bar that deserves more of a following- but then again, the same can be said of the restaurant which in many ways is refreshing in its aim to be steadfast.
