Via Vite Restaurant Review:
This Italian bistro is a Fountain Square landmark, where lunchtime brown-baggers flock to nearby tables and get a glimpse of the power-suited professionals enjoying their potato-leek soup with truffle oil swirls. The nighttime crowd also has gotten to know Via Vite, where the bonfire is visible in the wintertime for those looking for a cool spot to warm up. The see-and-be-seen vibe extends to the kitchen, where you can watch wood-fired pizzas emerge from the oven. By night, Via Vite has more of a lounge-like vibe, a popular happy hour, rooftop bar and a good signature drink, the Sgroppino, made with grapefruit vodka, Prosecco and ruby red gelato. Among dinner entrées, we recommend the overnight-braised lamb shank with lamb jus atop creamy polenta, as well as the five-layer lasagna Bolognese. For dessert, consider the Caramel Complexity, caramel panna cotta between two layers of caramelized puff pastry and carmello gelato, finished with house-made caramel-Bourbon sauce. Via Vite offers an after-show menu Friday and Saturday nights post-11 p.m. Try the Dina pizza, a winning combination of Gorgonzola, fig, caramelized onion, prosciutto and baby arugula.
