Vin Rouge Restaurant Review:
Country French antiques, decorative touches and vivid colors evoke the bistro's counterparts in Arles or Sarlat. Chef Matthew Kelly's menu lives up to the setting with faithful renderings of classic French dishes. Among the offerings are escargots with garlic butter, house-made pâtés, steak frites, mussels in a selection of sauces, onion soup, bouillabaisse, "grandmère's" roast chicken and duck confit salad with frisée. Vin Rouge is the only restaurant in the area that always has sweetbreads available. Be sure to save room for the lemon tart or crème brûlée. Brunch features several kinds of omelets, crêpes and croque monsieur. The well-chosen wine list covers the major grape-growing regions of France. In good weather, the extensive courtyard patio is one of the area's loveliest al fresco dining spots.
