THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Water's Edge Restaurant Review:
Considering that this Long Island City restaurant boasts a spectacular view of the Manhattan skyline from across the East River, it might seem like the food would be a mere afterthought. However, the kitchen does a satisfying job of rivaling the vista. After a private five-minute ferry ride, you’ll be ready to dig into the hearty menu, which highlights fresh seasonal ingredients. Roasted beet and goat cheese salad is accented with a drizzle of truffle oil; crispy calamari salad is nicely paired with fennel. Well executed duck breast comes with fried apple, pecans and a bourbon glaze---a surprising but nice complement, while seared sea scallops wade in a shallow pool of cauliflower purée. The wine list offers a handful of selections by the glass and hundreds of bottles from around the world, many with familiar names.
