About the restaurant: West Egg Café keeps a steady stream of patrons lined up for breakfast all week long. The clean, contemporary space enjoys a good view of the street, and diners may sit at wood tables or at a bar.

Food & Drinks: We like the omelet, stuffed with house-made pimiento cheese and pecan-smoked bacon. Cream gravy was made with turkey sausage, but the flavor was still good and the thick sauce rich and soothing. Grits had a fine corn flavor. Nice biscuits and even nicer cupcakes from the enterprise's bakery and good coffee (including the decaf) make this a fine breakfast stop. Lunch tilts to sandwiches and salads. You might eye a caramel cake in the display case. Breakfast is served throughout the day.
