White Flamingo Restaurant Restaurant Review:
This charming, romantic restaurant boasts tables dressed with crystal and white tablecloths. A different soup is prepared daily and the owner grows herbs that are hand-picked fresh for each dish. We recommend the ginger Mandarin salad with shrimp, or the tilapia meunière. There are also several beef and seafood selections, most notably the 16-ounce porterhouse or filet and shrimp on a bed of rice pilaf. The house specialty is the cobbler, which makes a good conclusion to any meal. The restaurant serves beer and wine, and a piano player takes the stage at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday evenings. Weekend breakfast starts early, at 8 a.m., with a variety of standards ranging from french toast to Texas favorites like grits and biscuits and gravy. But for the price, the best bet is an omelet plate that comes with a choice of hash browns, grits or tomatoes and toast, English muffin or homemade biscuits. Our advice? Go for the biscuits.
