Zivaz Restaurant Review:
Zivaz might offer fast-casual dining, but the food is well prepared and just a little different than what is served at most Mexican joints in town. Starters include fresh, chunky guacamole, but there’s also calabacitas (squash) in a vegetable-tomato sauce topped with cheese. We recommend the tacos as well as the burrito poblano with its filling of poblano chili sauce, beans, rice and cheese. Among entrées are a red chile con carne plate and the interesting grilled chicken chimichurri accompanied by asparagus. Milanesa de berenjena is eggplant with queso fresco and a tomatillo salsa. Mole enchiladas are a nice version of this chocolate-based dish. The menu’s best bet, however, is the Tour de Zivaz, where the chef is in charge and customers get a sampler plate. While beer and wine are available, we always order the hibiscus margarita.
