THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Chapter One Restaurant Review:
Chapter One’s name refers to the fact that it's the restaurant owners’ first endeavor. And it’s a good one. The place is set up to accommodate imbibing as much as eating, with a large swath of space dedicated to high tables near the bar (no wonder there’s a long list of signature cocktails and affordable wine options). The food menu consists of skate bites, fried pieces of skate paired with a mild jalapeño rémoulade, and well-executed charred octopus among the starters. Save room for the mains, though, as the scallops, accompanied by bacon, peas and sorrel butter, will make you wish for another portion; and the 12-hour pork belly, unctuous and juicy, should win over any porcine cravings. If a sweet tooth is nagging, the smoked chocolate pudding is a fine way to end the meal. We’re looking forward to chapter two.
