THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Cata Menu
Tapas and gin and tonics on the Bowery are a very compatible duo.

THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Cata Restaurant Review:
With owners from West Village tapas spot Alta and a chef who worked at Casa Mono, it’s surprising that the emphasis at Cata is not completely on what’s on the plate. That’s because this Bowery Spanish restaurant has a long menu of variations on the theme of the gin and tonic --- almost two-dozen of them, with (mostly) craft gin from around the world. But when it does come to the food, you’ll eat decently. While the name Cata suggests Catalonia, there are plenty of pan-Spanish dishes on the menu: a good (and crispy) take on patatas bravas and garlicky gambas al ajillo. Some nice surprises are in store, too: bone marrow-crusted baked oysters burst with flavor and the skirt steak is made better by the accompanying kimchi rice. If another gin and tonic is not on the agenda for dessert, go for the salted caramel sundae.
