Chef John Rivera Sedlar (Rivera), Bill Chait and Eddie Sotto will open R26 in the fall in the space currently occupied by Grace. (Read our blog to find out where Grace is relocating.) This casual Latin restaurant will be inspired by the 26 different nations and regions in Central America, South America, Mexico, the Hispanic Caribbean and Spain. Waterloo & City Chef Brendan Collins (The Hall, Anisette Brasserie) and general manager Carolos Tomazos have opened Waterloo & City, a traditional British gastropub in Culver City. Signature dishes from the menu include whole roast chicken with wild mushroom pot pie, gnocchi with shrimp and veal ragù, and Manchester quail with chopped liver on toast. Patina's Gourmet Opera Box Suppers For LA Opera's Ring Cycle
Patina Group is offering freshly prepared three-course meals packaged and ready for pickup in the theater at Dorothy Chandler Pavilion at the Music Center during the May and June run of Richard Wagner's Ring Cycle. Menu options, including poached salmon with a side salad and strawberries and cream, change with each performance and must be ordered 72 hours in advance online. A Biergarten on the Plaza is also open before and after the performance, and during intermission, featuring German sausages and imported beers. Order online at www.patinagroup.com.
 
Mélisse begins its Summer Guest Chef Series
Mélisse began its Summer Guest Chef Series on June 27 with chef Christopher Kostow of Napa Valley's The Restaurant at Meadowood. He will prepare a five-course menu, priced at $150 per person, excluding tax and gratuity. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Southern California Special Olympics. The series will continue in July and August, with Mélisse chef/owner Chef Josiah working side-by-side with some of America's top culinary stars in his Santa Monica kitchen, creating their respective signature dishes and innovative collaborations. "Tennis Uncorked"
If you're enjoying Tennis Channel's coverage of the French Open, you're probably in the mood for some French cuisine. You can taste a little bit of Paris right here in the United States with the network's "Tennis Uncorked" restaurant partnership this spring. The multi-city campaign pairs the channel with these select French restaurants in Los Angeles: Cheval Blanc Bistro, French Market Café, Bistro de la Gare, Lilly's French Café & Bar, Bistro LQ, Maison Akira, Saint Amour and Simon L.A. These French eateries are helping to celebrate Tennis Channel’s round-the-clock coverage of the two-week French Open, tennis’ largest and most prestigious clay-court competition. Caché Introduces "One-pot" Dishes on Sundays
On Sunday evenings at Caché Restaurant & Lounge, chef Josiah Citrin's stylish Santa Monica bistro, diners can now enjoy $38 three-course meals centered around a hearty one-pot dish. On May 30, for instance, an heirloom beet salad will precede a Moroccan-inspired chicken tagine, followed by panna cotta with apricots and almonds. On June 13, the menu will feature a marketplace tomato salad, a one-pot Indian lamb curry as a centerpiece, and passion fruit cheesecake to finish. New Menu Items at The Beachcomber at Malibu Pier
The Beachcomber at Malibu Pier has introduced several new menu items, including shrimp "corndogs" with sriracha ketchup, a lobster avocado "martini" garnished with an olive, and Cal-Italian cioppino with lobster, crab, shrimp and clams. The full menu is also offered on the outdoor patio adjacent to the restaurant, a prime place to take in the ocean view. Pasadena's Madeleines Restaurant & Wine Bar, located in the historic Cheesewright Building, has closed. One of the Crown City's most handsome dining rooms, the closure follows the departure of chefs Claud Beltran, who opened Noir Food & Wine nearby, and Adam Levoe, now at Old Pasadena's Quadrupel Brasserie. Silverlake's cult-fave hipster spot Territory BBQ and Records has closed.
 
Downtown's Provecho (800 Wilshire Blvd.), the ambitious contemporary Mexican restaurant with chef/owner Gabriel Morales at the helm, has closed after a run of about 18 months. The adjacent Remedy Lounge has also shuttered. Provecho, 800 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90017, 213-489-1406.
