Happy Camper Pizza is now open at the Fashion Show mall. The decor captures both a feel of the outdoors and nostalgia, with disco balls, artificial turf, red neon lights, an actual vintage camper, retractable roof, heaters, hanging string lights, greenery, fire pits, cabanas and communal seating. The food menu includes queso elote dip; whipped feta; double smash burger; Baja fish tacos; ahi tuna poke bowl; and several non-traditional specialty pizzas like BBQ chicken, prosciutto & spinach, chicken ranch, Mediterranean and street corn. The beverage menu has cleverly-named concoctions like the Big Ass Lemonade (32 oz of pink lemonade & vodka) and Trailer Park Queen (prosecco, elderflower and lemon); and more than a dozen beers including the locally-made Able Baker Atomic Duck IPA, Bad Beat High Society Pilsner and Big Dog’s Tailwagger Wheat and Las Vegas Lager. • Clique Hospitality’s Bel-Aire Backyard at Durango Casino & Resort is now open. Spanning more than 65,000 square feet, the space features a sprawling deck and pool, two poolside bars, event and lawn space, lush greenery, cabanas and an oversized hot tub; and the Backyard Grill, a 96-seat restaurant and bar offering an expansive menu of breakfast bites, sashimi and sushi, flatbreads, burgers and more. Highlights of the menu include miso sea bass lettuce cups with baby gem lettuce, pickled veggies and crispy kataifi; sushi rolls such as the Durango roll with ahi tuna, BBQ eel, grilled pineapple, sweet soy and micro shiso; summer watermelon salad with cucumber, feta, pickled red onions and mint vinaigrette; lobster roll with herb aioli; truffle penne pasta with prosciutto and truffle cream; and grilled 10 oz Prime NY strip loin with bone marrow herb butter and au poivre sauce. Parry’s Sliceria & Taps is now open at the Waldorf Astoria on the Vegas Strip next to ARIA. Located in a separate building steps from the hotel main entrance, the restaurant and bar shares seating space with Whataburger, the fast-food burger chain’s first location on the Vegas Strip. The common seating features booths, banquettes and TVs throughout including a huge screen on the Whataburger side and several seats at Parry’s wraparound bar. Shareables include hand-bettered wings tossed with choice of more than a dozen sauces. Several NY-style pizza options include the likes of margherita, veggie, supreme, meat lovers and a white pie with ricotta and Italian sausage. The pizzas are matched with 84 beer taps from more than a dozen from local breweries including Able Baker, Bad Beat, Big Dog’s, CraftHaus, Lovelady, Mojave and Tenaya Creek. Fans of brown spirits are not left out, as the Parry’s Lounge, located one level above the sliceria, focuses mainly on bourbon and whiskey. Parry’s Sliceria & Taps, Waldorf Astoria, 3752 S. • Wineaux, a “wine market, bar and escape” by chef Shawn McClain, master sommelier Nick Hetzel and restaurateurs Richard and Sarah Camarota, is now open at the UnCommons urban campus. The 2,500 square feet of mixed retail and bar/lounge space is adorned with natural woods, stonework, lounge-style seating with tables, a 10-seat bar and 12-seat tasting table. The wine selection curated by master sommelier Nick Hetzel features hundreds of bottles of wine from all over the world that can be enjoyed at Wineaux or at home. Created by chef McClain, Wineaux’s food menu is a collection of shareables, snacks and small plates that pair well with wine. Highlights include chilled oysters with cucumber-kosho mignonette; beef tartare with salsa macha and horseradish; Dungeness crab roll served on brioche with stone-ground mustard aioli; foie parfait with a Bordeaux gelee, Asian pear and toasted hazelnuts; and a whimsical almond butter and jelly waffle. • Shady Grove Lounge Mad Hatter’s Tea Party Pop-up
The Shady Grove Lounge at Silverton Casino will be transformed into a pop-up bar inspired by the stories of Alice in Wonderland. Named Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, the pop-up bar will be open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 5-10 p.m. from March 29-June 2. The exaggerated décor will include enormous flowers, colorful settings, a tea house and the iconic Airstream decked out in a wonderland theme. A selection of seven “tea party” drinks will include the likes of Tennessee Tea with Knob Creek bourbon, honey simple syrup and rose water; and Tea-garita with orange tango tea-infused sour mix, tequila and triple sec; and Sunshine Tea with sweetened sunshine tea, vodka and passion fruit lemonade. The food menu, designed for sharing, will feature white cheddar-truffle popcorn, spiced ‘n salty mixed nuts, assortment of petit fours, jalapeño pub cheese and creamy boursin and brie cheeses. • ONE Steakhouse Live Music and Weekly Specials
Brothers Michael Morton and David Morton’s ONE Steakhouse at Virgin Hotels is hosting the weekly “Thursdays Live” music series and weekly menu specials throughout the month of April. Held in the restaurant’s lounge every Thursday from 5:30-9:30 p.m., the lineup includes April 4: Serena Isabelli, who performs a blend of pop, rock, hip hop and Motown; April 11: Sayaka Alessandroni, a Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter; April 18: Lexi Cole, who performs original pop and R&B songs; and April 25: Ellen Radford, who delivers classic and modern Pop and Top 40 hits. Executive chef William DeMarco’s specials, changing weekly, include April 4-6: shrimp fra diavolo with jumbo prawns, Calabrian chilies and tagliolini pasta ($42); April 11-13: veal scaloppini with roasted garlic, spinach, lemon and capers ($49); April 18-20: parmesan crusted halibut with farro, fava beans and baby heirloom carrots ($46); and April 25-27: lamb sirloin with smashed fingerling potatoes and pomegranate chimichurri ($69). • Locale Italian Kitchen Sunday Brunch
Locale Italian Kitchen in the heart of Mountain’s Edge, is serving brunch on Sundays from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. The menu includes breakfast pizza ($18) with bacon, red onions, eggs and fresh mozzarella; Locale Benedict ($15) with spinach and San Marzano tomato Hollandaise with options to add short rib, proscuitto or bacon for an additional $3; ciabatta French toast ($14) with apple compote and Grand Marnier syrup; breakfast bowl ($16) with sunny side eggs, avocado, arborio rice, cannellini beans, tomato and pistachio pesto; chicken & waffle ($16) with cried chicken, Calabrian chili butter and house-made maple-bourbon honey; and cinnamon sweet cream pancakes ($14) with whipped nutmeg ricotta. • La Strega Introduces Spring Menu Items
Spearheaded by executive chef partner Gina Marinelli, La Strega has announced its refreshed menu for the spring. New menu items include spring antipasto with truffle salami, mozzarella and honey red wine vinagrette; tiger prawns al forno with salsa verde and Sicilian olive oil; wagyu carpaccio with tonnato, pickled mustard seeds and little gem lettuce; fruitti di mare with squid ink bucatini, Calabrian pomodoro, lobster, rock shrimp, calamari and basil; and salmon alla grigliata with ora king salmon, livornese vinaigrette and fennel salad. • HarlØ Steakhouse & Bar Tasting Menu Highlighting Greek Cuisine
Each month, two-time James Beard Foundation Award semifinalist chef Gina Marinelli, highlights a different country by curating a four-course tasting menu at HarlØ Steakhouse & Bar at Downtown Summerlin. This month the flavors of Greece are being highlighted. Priced at $95 per person, the authentic Greek menu includes choice of baked valbreso feta with oven-roasted tomatoes, peppers and oregano or octopus carpaccio with gigante beans, red onion, dill and cucumbers; spaghetti with kasseri, Greek olive oil and thyme; grilled diver scallops served with couscous, zucchini and crab vinaigrette or Mediterranean-spiced bavette with charred red onion and parsley butter; and ricotta cheesecake with pistachio and kataifi. The Tropicana Las Vegas, which first opened in 1957, closed on April 2, 2024, as it is slated to be demolished to make way for the $1.5 billion baseball stadium that will be the new home of the relocating Oakland Athletics. With the demise of the historic resort comes the closure of a handful of restaurants, most notably Robert Irvine’s Public House. The celebrity chef’s gastropub opened in 2017 and was known for serving comfort food options (including pizza, sliders, ribs and fish & chips) inspired by chef Irvine’s culinary travels from around the world in a pub-like atmosphere. Also closing at the Tropicana are the high-end Oakville Tuscan Grill steakhouse and the quick-serve Red Lotus Asian Kitchen.
